NTL Universities and University Colleges

The Norwegian Civil Service Union (NTL) is a trade union under the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO).
NTL is divided into organisational levels by sector, activity and subject area and organises employees in the government and public enterprises.

NTL Universities and University Colleges organises employees at universities and university colleges across the country. We believe it is important for all employees in a workplace to be able to stand together, which is why – as the only Norwegian trade union – we organise all employee groups at universities and university colleges: professors, associate professors, researchers, assistant professors, consultants, advisers, engineers, operating staff, cleaning staff and everyone else.

NTL’s National Association for Universities and University Colleges (“NTL U og H” in Norwegian) consists of 12 institutions: the University of South-Eastern Norway, the University of Stavanger, the University of Agder, OsloMet, Nord University, Sámi University College, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Volda University College, Molde University College, Østfold University College and the University Centre in Svalbard. Each institution has its own NTL Board with local employee representatives. You can find your local representative here.

The national association has a total of about 1,650 members.

The national association arranges a Supervisory Council meeting every other year with delegates from all member institutions. The Supervisory Council deals with the annual report, budget, financial statements, political statements and elects a new Board for the coming two-year period. The Supervisory Council also elects delegates to NTL’s national congress, which takes place every four years.

You can read more about the national association’s current Board here.

The national association arranges courses and gatherings for members, managers and employee representatives. We assist local branches with help and advice in various matters and provide financial support for local member activities.

We also submit consultative comments on relevant political policy issues and collaborate with the other associations in the sector on reports, gatherings, courses, webinars, etc.
